"You have killed my love. You used to stir my imagination. Now you don’t even stir my curiosity. You simply produce no effect. I loved you because you were marvellous, because you had genius and intellect, because you realised the dreams of great poets and gave shape and substance to the shadows of art. You have thrown it all away. You are shallow and stupid."

"Remember, you cannot be both young and wise. Young people who pretend to be wise to the ways of the world are mostly just cynics. Cynicism masquerades as wisdom, but it is the farthest thing from it. Because cynics don’t learn anything. Because cynicism is a self-imposed blindness, a rejection of the world because we are afraid it will hurt us or disappoint us. Cynics always say no. But saying “yes” begins things. Saying “yes” is how things grow. Saying “yes” leads to knowledge. “Yes” is for young people. So for as long as you have the strength to, say “yes’"

    Anicka Nadeige: Slow Dance →

More than putting another man on the moon,
more than a New Year’s resolution of yogurt and yoga,
we need the opportunity to dance
with really exquisite strangers. A slow dance
between the couch and dinning room table, at the end
of the party, while the person we love has gone
    to bring the…

inner turmoil, chaos, confusion. these are mental states of being that every one of us finds ourselves in now and again. some of us are blessed with individuals who understand us even in moments which we don’t understand ourselves. while pouring my soul out to my cousin over a smoked duck panini at a chic little brooklyn cafe, she stated one of the most monumental ideas to me with such ease that i remembered she has no idea how beautiful her aura is. “happiness, is not a static state”. those words grabbed me by the scruff of my neck and threw me back on the dirt road to self actualization. so to her, i say “in searching for my inner soul child, i have found that you are my soul sister.”this photo, she snapped in state of vengeance beautifully illustrates the new motto she has given me, completely unaware of. a picture taken out of spite, yes. but a picture taken while we were in the midst of possibly the worst, but absolutely the best and most beautiful moments we had experienced together. “hapiness is not a static state. it is not a box with a check next to it that you can mark off at the end of your life and say ‘ok, i’m here…i’m happy’. you live your life, and you are happy along the way, not the whole time”.

Love it

"Life will break you. Nobody can protect you from that, and living alone won’t either, for solitude will also break you with its yearning. You have to love. You have to feel. It is the reason you are here on earth. You are here to risk your heart. You are here to be swallowed up. And when it happens that you are broken, or betrayed, or left, or hurt, or death brushes near, let yourself sit by an apple tree and listen to the apples falling all around you in heaps, wasting their sweetness. Tell yourself you tasted as many as you could."
